Recently, we have learned from reliable sources that Toyota’s global intelligent driving solution will adopt a three-party collaboration model involving Toyota, Huawei, and Momenta. This solution, different from Huawei’s existing ADS advanced driver assistance system, will incorporate software and hardware solutions provided by Momenta and Huawei, respectively, with the three parties deeply cooperating and integrating their plans. According to insiders, Toyota is expected to officially announce the specific details of the plan during the Beijing Auto Show.

As early as March 18, 2020, autonomous driving company Momenta announced a strategic partnership with Toyota to provide Toyota with high-precision mapping and updating services based on camera vision technology, jointly promoting the commercialization of Toyota’s Automated Mapping Platform (AMP) in China. Subsequently, on March 19, 2021, Momenta announced the completion of a Series C financing round totaling $500 million, in which Toyota participated as a lead investor and strategic partner. This financing not only provided financial support to Momenta but also deepened the collaboration between the two parties.

Toyota’s collaboration with Huawei has mainly focused on the intelligent cockpit domain. In the previous month, Toyota officially launched the 9th generation Camry, which showcases a customized infotainment system developed in collaboration between Toyota and Huawei. The system was specifically designed to cater to the Chinese market. It boasts the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip, offering a generous 12GB of RAM and a spacious 128GB hard drive. The performance and smooth operation of the infotainment system have significantly improved compared to the 8th generation Camry. We will continue to follow up on more news regarding the three-party collaboration.
