On December 22, 2023, BYD announced that it would build a new energy vehicle production base in Szeged, Hungary. The base will be constructed in phases and is expected to create thousands of local jobs.

The new production base plans to use the world’s advanced process equipment and highly automated production processes to build the world’s leading new energy vehicle manufacturing base. The construction of this production base will actively promote the development of the local economy, promote technological exchanges and innovations between China and Hungary, and help the local area build a green “ecosystem” with BYD’s own advantages in the entire industry chain.

BYD New Energy Passenger Vehicle Factory

Hungary is located in the heart of the European continent and is an important transportation hub in Europe. The Hungarian automobile industry has a long history of development, developed infrastructure and a mature automobile industry foundation, which provides BYD with a good opportunity to build a factory there.

Adhering to the environmental protection vision of “cooling the earth’s temperature by 1°C”, BYD hopes to accelerate the pace of new energy passenger vehicles entering the European market, further deepen its global layout, and actively promote the green transformation of the global energy structure.
