Tesla Cybertruck production manager Zhu Renjie has resigned. It is currently unclear whether his resignation is the result of a new round of layoffs or if he voluntarily initiated his resignation. Zhu Renjie has been working at Tesla for over 5 years and was responsible for the production line operation of Model 3 and Model Y at the Shanghai Super Factory. In 2023, he was transferred to the Tesla Austin Superfactory as the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, responsible for the initiation and production of the Tesla Cybertruck project.
It is reported that at least 8 Tesla executives have resigned in the past month. Such as Tesla’s former second in command Bagrino, Tesla’s Vice President of Public Policy and Business Rohan Patel, Vice President of Investor Relations Martin Viecha, Senior Director of Human Resources Allie Arebalo, New Car Project Director Daniel Ho, Positive Pole Manufacturing Director Anthony Thurston, Supercharge Team Leader Rebecca Tinucci, as well as former Tesla Product Launch Director Ritchie Otto, who has previously been responsible for the release and delivery of models such as Cybertruck and Model S Plaid, as well as other media event projects. After leaving, Otto also criticized Musk in a post, stating that the recent layoffs that have shaken the company and its morale have disrupted this harmony and it is difficult to see long-term development.
However, compared to Otto, Zhu Renjie’s resignation speech is more positive. He said, “When I have time to stop and look back at the past five years I have spent at Tesla, I am fortunate that I have not wasted even a day. Together with many capable, attitude, and ideal colleagues, as well as supplier partners who dare to break barriers and challenge limits, I have achieved many things that I had never imagined before. I firmly believe that the changes we have brought to the entire vehicle manufacturing industry will continue to ferment and ferment, triggering even more profound changes. Falcon landing, repairing and refurbishing; gathering one day, we will embark on another journey!”

Analysts have pointed out that the ultimate goal of Tesla’s recent series of personnel adjustments is to transform the company from an electric vehicle manufacturer to an autonomous driving solution provider. However, based on current performance, according to data released by credit card data provider Yipit, only 2% of Tesla American car owners who received a one month free trial of FSD chose to subscribe to the service after the trial period ended.
