Recently, we have learned from relevant channels that BYD’s new mid size car, the Qin L, is expected to be launched on May 28th. With the future launch of this car, it will form a dual car layout together with the Qin PLUS to meet the purchasing needs of different users. It is worth mentioning that the starting price of the new car in the future may be above 120000 RMB.
In terms of appearance, the new car adopts the “New China-Chic Longyan Aesthetics”, and the interior of the large size front grille is decorated with dot matrix elements, with outstanding visual effect. At the same time, the front headlights are narrow, sharp, and highly integrated with the upward illuminated “dragon whiskers”. The integrated design not only makes the dragon face more three-dimensional, but also amplifies the horizontal visual effect of the front face.
From the side view of the vehicle, its waistline runs from the front fender to the rear door, making the body more slender. Coupled with the concave ribs below the door, it creates a three-dimensional cutting effect, highlighting the overall strength of the vehicle. At the same time, it adopts a sloping design, presenting a “low lying” posture, making it more youthful.
In terms of the rear end, the wider shoulder wrap design not only echoes the front face, but also increases the muscular feel of the body contour. At the same time, the car adopts a through type tail light design, inspired by the Chinese knot, which is highly recognizable. In terms of vehicle size, its length, width, and height are 4830/1900/1495mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2790mm. As a comparison, the current Qin PLUS model on sale has a body size of 4765/1837/1495mm and a wheelbase of 2718mm, which can be said to be one circle larger than the Qin PLUS overall.
In terms of interior design, the inspiration for the Qin L’s interior comes from Chinese landscape painting, which combines the agility of Eastern landscapes with modern technology to create a stylish and elegant “landscape painting cabin”. Specifically, the new car features an embedded large-sized LCD instrument panel and an iconic rotatable central control screen, giving it a highly technological look. At the same time, the addition of a new style of three spoke multifunction steering wheel and wireless phone charging configurations meets the current needs of users for driving.
In line with its appearance, Chinese knot elements are also widely used in the interior design of the Qin L, with a central armrest area and a brand new BYD Heart crystal ball shift lever with a unique design. The core functions of starting, shifting, driving mode, etc. are integrated around the crystal shift lever, making it easy for daily operation.
In terms of power, according to previous declaration information, the new car will be equipped with a plug-in hybrid system consisting of a 1.5L engine and an electric motor, and will have BYD’s 5th generation DM-i hybrid technology. The maximum power of the engine is 74 kW, and the maximum power of the motor is 160 kW. The new car is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from Zhengzhou Fudi, which provides consumers with 15.874kWh and 10.08kWh to choose from. The corresponding WLTC pure electric range is 90km and 60km, respectively.
