At today’s FCB brand Spring Launch Event, FCB Automobile unveiled a new model, the SUPER 9, also known as the FCB 9. The SUPER 9 is positioned as an all-electric sports car and belongs to the Speedster category with its open-top design. It was crafted by BYD’s Chief Designer, Ai Ge.
In terms of styling, the SUPER 9 exudes a dynamic and aggressive appearance. The distinctive headlights follow the curves of the fenders, creating a cohesive and flowing design. As a sports car, the SUPER 9 features floating butterfly doors that enhance both aesthetics and functionality. The incorporation of two functional fins (floating blades) at the bottom optimizes aerodynamic performance, and the design of the nine-spoke wheels corresponds to the “9” in SUPER 9.
Inside, the new car adopts a “space cockpit” design theme. As a Speedster-category sports car, the FCB 9 features a dual cockpit and an open-top design, aiming to deliver the utmost performance. From a top-down perspective, one can appreciate the beauty and sense of power emanating from the car. It pursues the ultimate in aerodynamics and structural lightweight design.
The entire dashboard area, referred to as the “carbon fiber matrix skeleton,” employs an innovative mechanically hollow structure that achieves exceptional lightweight construction while ensuring structural strength. Regarding the key powertrain details, FCB has not yet disclosed any information. We look forward to learning more during the auto show.
Although the introduction of a sports car by a Chinese brand is no longer a novelty these days, BYD’s dream of producing sports cars has a history of almost 20 years. As early as 2006, they launched a model called the BYD F8 (renamed S8 for the production version). While the design of that car borrowed elements from others, it was the first Chinese-branded vehicle to conquer the hardtop convertible technology, earning it a place in history. Now, the FCB 9 boasts complete independent design and proprietary technology. Are you excited about its arrival? What do you think would be an appropriate price? We look forward to reading your insightful comments in the comment section.
