The BYD Sea Lion 05 will be sold on Haiyang.com, on the same platform as the Song Pro from Wangchao. The new car is a plug-in hybrid model and a five seater compact SUV.
In terms of appearance, the Sea Lion 05 adopts a large-sized frameless grille design, with the grille on both sides extending infinitely outward. Its smoked black headlights are connected to the grille, with BYD’s brand logo in the center and large-sized air intakes on both sides of the grille.
The side profile of the car is very similar to that of the Song Pro, featuring hidden B, C, and D pillars. In terms of body dimensions, the new car measures 4710/1880/1720mm in length, width, and height, with a wheelbase of 2712mm.
At the rear of the vehicle, the new car adopts a through type taillight design, with a rounded tail design and similar style of headlights. The BYD logo is used in the center, and the original Build your Dream no longer appears at the rear of the new car. The license plate frame is located at the tailgate, and the rear bumper adopts a crossover design with the word Sea Lion 05 on the tail, naming the new car.
In terms of power, the new car should adopt DM5.0 technology, equipped with a 1.5L naturally aspirated engine with a maximum power of 74 kilowatts, a maximum motor power of 120 kilowatts, and matched with a Freddie lithium iron phosphate blade battery.
