Recently, according to media reports, on the morning of June 7th, a serious traffic accident occurred at the exit of a parking lot in Meilan District, Haikou City. A Xiaomi SU7 suddenly lost control while driving out of the parking lot and rushed towards electric bicycles and pedestrians driving normally on non motorized lanes, resulting in one death and three injuries. According to insiders, the cause of the accident may be related to vehicle loss of control or brake failure. Currently, public security organs and insurance companies have intervened in the investigation. Xiaomi has responded to this as soon as possible.

Regarding the parking lot related accidents reported by the media, Xiaomi declares as follows:
1. After the relevant accident occurred, Xiaomi has intervened immediately and is actively cooperating with the police for inspection and investigation.
2. After cooperating with the police to retrieve vehicle backend data, it was found that the vehicle was in normal condition at the time of the accident, with the brake pedal in normal condition and the accelerator pedal continuously pressed. Xiaomi has provided the vehicle data report at the time of the incident to the traffic police department, and will actively cooperate and assist the police in the investigation. If there are any relevant results, we will also disclose them in a timely manner.
3. The media’s hasty description of “vehicle loss of control” and “brake failure” without understanding the facts and data is seriously untrue.
4. We will sincerely and properly cooperate with the car owner and relevant parties regarding the aftermath of this accident.
Police investigation results
On June 8th, the Traffic Police Detachment of Haikou Public Security Bureau issued a notice stating that at around 7:35 am on June 7th, a small car collided with two electric vehicles while driving out of the entrance of the Chunjiang No.1 community on Meiyuan Road, causing one person to die on the spot and three people to be injured to varying degrees (one person was hospitalized for treatment without life-threatening conditions; two people did not need to be hospitalized and returned home).
After preliminary investigation, it was found that the accident occurred due to improper operation by the driver of a small car (excluding drunk driving and drug driving) while driving the vehicle. He has been criminally detained by the police on suspicion of traffic accidents. The case is being further processed.
