The Skoda brand under the Volkswagen Group is about to launch a brand new SUV model, the Elroq, which is seen as the pure electric version of the Corolla. It is reported that, Elroq will make its debut in the fourth quarter of this year and is expected to be officially launched for sale before the end of the year. The new car is expected to be put into production in the domestic market next year, and its market price may be lower than the Volkswagen ID.4 model. Direct competitors will include models such as the BYD Song PLUS.
From the released new car teaser pictures, it can be seen that the Skoda Elroq adopts the latest family style “Tech Deck” grille design, and the overall appearance adopts Modern Solid design language. The line design above the hood is similar to that of the Range Rover model. According to official information, the overall length of the new car is 4500MM, which is similar to the Corolla fuel version model.
According to reports from overseas media, Skoda Elroq will be built on Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform and will offer single motor and dual motor four-wheel drive versions for consumers to choose from. The power parameters and battery capacity may be consistent with the overseas version of the ID.4 model. The domestically produced Elroq is also expected to adopt the same power system as the SAIC Volkswagen ID.4 X.
The launch of Skoda Elroq marks further expansion of the Skoda brand in the electric vehicle market. With the launch of new models, Skoda will provide consumers with more pure electric options and also engage in direct competition with other brands in the fiercely competitive SUV market.
