BYD Automobile Co., Ltd. has released a recall plan, announcing that from May 20, 2024, it will recall a total of 16666 Seagull electric vehicles produced between April 7 and May 31, 2023. This recall has been filed with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automotive Product Recalls and the Implementation Measures of the Regulations on the Management of Defective Automotive Product Recalls. The reason for the recall is that there are problems with the camera driving software in the multimedia display assembly of these vehicles, which may affect the safety of the field of view when reversing.
OTA upgrade for quick and efficient resolution of software defects
To eliminate safety hazards, BYD will implement free software upgrades for recalled vehicles through OTA technology. OTA technology, as an important means of modern car maintenance, can remotely update vehicle software without the need for car owners to personally visit the store to complete the upgrade.
A small number of vehicles need to be upgraded at the store. For a few vehicles that cannot be recalled through OTA, BYD promises to proactively contact relevant users and provide free in store upgrade services. Users can go to BYD authorized dealerships nearby for free upgrades upon receiving notification.
