Just after the Beijing Auto Show ended, BYD launched a new model, the Sea Lion 07EV, the first model of the all-new Sea Lion IP on Ocean Net, was officially launched yesterday.
Compared to previous models of Ocean Net, the Sea Lion 07EV has several obvious differences that are worth taking a look at.
Introduction to Sea Lion
Firstly, the Sea Lion 07EV is the first application model of BYD’s all-new e-platform 3.0 Evo, featuring the world’s first CTB vehicle safety architecture, the world’s first twelve in one intelligent electric drive, the world’s first intelligent wide temperature range efficient heat pump, the world’s first global intelligent fast charging, and the world’s first intelligent motion control. It can be said that BYD has applied all five of its latest technologies.
From a certain perspective, the Sea Lion 07EV represents BYD’s most advanced technological system at present. In addition, the world’s highest speed motor with a production speed of 23000rpm, intelligent current boosting fast charging technology, intelligent terminal fast charging technology, super iTAC and other technologies were also applied. Upon careful calculation, a Sea Lion 07EV was equipped with 12 BYD’s world first hardcore technologies, and the entire series even reached 100 standard configurations. There is really no final volume, only more volume, and even more volume cannot compete with volume king BYD.
Secondly, the Sea Lion 07EV is a brand new IP from BYD Ocean Network, which means that the Sea Lion is likely to develop into a series in the future, and the Sea Lion 07EV is the first in this series. From a design perspective, the design of the Sea Lion 07EV continues the aesthetic of the ocean, with an elegant and avant-garde tone that still catches the attention of young people. The overall design of the car body is also in line with the previous seal, with coordinated proportions and an artistic temperament. In terms of interior design, it is also a classic layout of BYD, with a focus on simplicity and practicality. The design of the center console also reflects the concept of “Ocean Core”, with a flat bottomed four spoke sports steering wheel, retro triangular windows, and a “floating wing” dashboard all showing online performance.
In terms of body dimensions, the Sea Lion 07EV has a length, width, and height of 4830mm x 1925mm x 1620mm, and a wheelbase of 2930mm, making it a mid to large SUV. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the overall driving and passenger space. The interior storage space is also rich, and it is worth noting that the Sea Lion 07EV has an additional 58 liter front compartment storage space, which can accommodate a standard 20 inch luggage compartment without any pressure. The layout of the trunk is still flexible and versatile, meeting various household scenarios.
In terms of configuration, the Sea Lion 07EV is mainly equipped with a rich range of features, including panoramic sunroof, electric sunshades, 128 color ambient lights, 12 speakers, and Dana customized speakers, all of which are configurations to improve driving and riding quality. In terms of intelligent driving, there is a first-time application of the Heavenly Eye Advanced Intelligent Driving Assistance System – DIPilot 100, full scene digital key and facial recognition function, as well as a 50 inch AR-HUD head up display, matched with a deeply customized navigation system, and the overall experience has been upgraded.
This time, the e-platform 3.0 Evo mainly solves the pain point of “full scene, really fast charging”, which can be fast charged even in northern winter without picking piles or environments. The maximum charging power of the low-end version of the public DC charging station can reach 180kW, while the high-end version can directly reach 240kW. The charging time for 10-80% SOC has been reduced to 25 minutes, and the end charging time has been reduced from 30 minutes to 18 minutes. The extremely low temperature charging time has also been reduced by 40%.
Price in Chinese Mainland
From the current performance display, the official guide price of 189800 to 239800 RMB for the Sea Lion 07EV is quite good. The Sea Lion 07EV looks like a pioneer, and it is estimated that BYD will continue to upgrade its technology in bulk this year. This year’s competition in new energy technology is likely to be led by BYD.
